| We are a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to celebrate Swedish history and culture. For more then 35-years we have been the link to our homeland for hundreds of metro Detroiters. Chartered in 1966 the Detroit Swedish Foundation (formerly known as the Detroit Swedish Council) is one of the oldest organizations of its kind, and along with our colleagues in Philadelphia, San Francisco and Delaware we are one of the founding members of the Swedish Council of America. | ||||||||||||||||

| what we do... | ||||||||||||||||
| Sweden boasts a proud history, a powerful culture, so whether you are a new arrival of a second or third generation Swedish- American, you need to be in touch with your heritage. The Detroit Swedish Foundation is here to help you make that connection.
Throughtout the year we sponsor art fairs, concerts, and other cultural events with leading Swedish artists and performers. Our annual Smorgasbord offers delicious culinary fare, boasting authentic Swedish dishes not found in any local dining establishments. We also sponsor many events, exhibits and language programs. Each function we support serves to enlighten the local Swedish community and emphasize the many contributions that our people have made over the centuries to America and the world. |
